This original Iron Cross 2nd Class from World War I is a historic German military decoration, first established in 1813 by King Frederick William III of Prussia to honor acts of bravery in battle. Reinstated for later conflicts, this particular example dates to 1914, under the reign of Kaiser Wilhelm II.

The medal features the classic black iron core with silver frame, the crowned “W” monogram for Wilhelm II, and the date “1914” at the base. The reverse side bears the royal cypher “FW” for Frederick William III and the founding date “1813,” marking the origin of the award. The original black and white combat ribbon is still attached, a symbol of valor worn proudly by German soldiers who earned it.
